Have you ever dreamed of your event taking over the city’s main street – all of it, from one end to the other? This was precisely the idea that occurred to Renata Urbanavičiūtė and Klaidas Mačernis of the Džiunglės music club. In September 1997, they turned it into reality.

During Tekno Line, electronic music could be heard everywhere possible – across central Kaunas and the Old Town, in Town Hall Square, Vilniaus Street and Laisvės Avenue.

The scale of the event was also reflected in its line-up. Performers and DJs arrived from all three Baltic states: Estonian DJ Aivar Tonso, Kone and Martin from Riga, Genys from Klaipėda, Solonely from Vilnius, as well as local artists Ernis and DJ Žvėriukai.

The Tekno Line programme also featured live performances by Exem, Soda and even Rebelheart, alongside a fashion show involving Gitis, Kristina and other designers. Even then, the event was streamed live online. Afterwards, a Tekno Line music cassette was released, documenting this extraordinary collision of electronic music and fashion.

In later years, Tekno Line became known for even bolder ideas. The second event, held in 1998, took place on a train travelling from Vilnius to Klaipėda. The third, in 1999, unfolded aboard a plane flying from Karmėlava to Palanga and continued at Palanga Airport. Electronic music thus travelled quite literally across Lithuania and became a cultural phenomenon.
