Today, it is difficult to believe that this building was originally constructed as the cultural centre of the Kaunas Territorial Construction Trust. Likewise, young people visiting it in the 1980s would never have believed that one day it would house the Kaunas Chamber of the Regional Administrative Court.

From the mid-1980s, however, Trestas became one of the city’s most important entertainment and disco venues, often operating... seven days a week.

In 1994, a Sunday event series called NSO Dancefloor appeared on the Trestas schedule. It attracted fans of electronic music, hip-hop and alternative culture. At a time when club culture in Lithuania was only beginning to take shape, NSO Dancefloor was a place where audiences could hear the latest techno, house, breakbeat, hardcore and jungle sounds. DJ Ernis and Dusia took to the decks, while DJ Saga regularly travelled here from Klaipėda.

Although NSO Dancefloor lasted only a few years, its significance to the history of electronic music in Kaunas was immense. For many young Kaunas residents in the 1990s, it was their first encounter with true underground electronic music and a new culture of urban nightlife.
