Kamanių šilelis is a duo formed in 2011. Their sound is minimalist, rhythmic and gently psychedelic, moving between indie folk and art pop while blending an internationally recognisable sensibility with deep roots in Lithuanian folklore. Their songs often draw on lyrics from traditional Lithuanian folk music, giving them a completely new shape through the duo’s modern arrangements.

This approach is especially vivid on their debut album Viskas teka (2014) and its follow-up Namai (2017). Later records, 9 (2020) and Žiūrėti į saulę (2023), introduce more original lyrics, yet the music still reaches for something deeply folkloric while preserving the duo’s unmistakable identity.

Both in the studio and on stage, kamanių šilelis work with instruments ranging from jaw harp, didgeridoo and guitar to analogue synthesiser and a host of other, sometimes self-made, sound-making tools. The many layers of their music continue to bring together an ever-growing audience with wildly different tastes.
